"Four Foolish Generations"

Text: Proverbs  30:11-14
INTRODUCTION:
    A. The word generation as used in this portion of scripture means "a class of people."
    B. Since sin entered the human race these FOUR classes of people have existed.
    C. It seems to me in a special way the inspired writer is describing the world in which we live. There's no doubt that we're
living in the age just prior to the second coming of Christ. The writer is describing our own day and time.
    D. He is describing four generations of mean people.
    E. He could be describing you, or a son, or a daughter, or a friend, or someone you know.
        1. I hope you would not be classified in either of these four generations, but if so, then make a change today.
I. THERE IS A GENERATION THAT DISRESPECTS AND DISHONORS PARENTS.v. 11
    A. Here we find a class of people that’s mean, they may not intend to be mean, yet disrespect to parents is one of the
        worst kinds of meaness!
    B. Perhaps a worse meanness, is parents who are mean to their children.
        1. We hear of this almost every day on the news.
        2. Children being abused, molested, and killed by a parent.
    C. This verse says there is a generation, a class of people, could be old or young, that curses their father and does not bless
         their mother.
    D. Here is seen a break down of the oldest institution in the history of mankind, the home.
        1. Through home life and parenthood, God’s purpose for people is projected, God said to the first parents "populate
            the earth."
        2. Through the seed of woman God would in due time bring forth His Son, to suffer, sacrifics and die for the sins of the
           world
    E. No wonder the Devil early in the history of the human race began to invade the home, seeking to destroy the backbone
        of humanity.

        1. Cain dishonored God and his parents when he rose up and slew his brother Abel, Gen. 4:8-
        2. Thank God this didn’t destroy the home, nor the faith line, because God raised up Seth.
        3. Satan has made his greatest attack upon the home, Israel, and New Testament church
    F. All through history Satan has tried to destroy the home.
        1. He tried to get Job to curse the day he was born.
            a. His wife said do it! Job2:9-10
            b. But Job wouldn’t do it and preserved his home.
        2. He tried to wreck Abraham’s home, filled him with doubt about the promised son, influenced him to go in to the bond
            woma
    G. Old Satan tried to keep Moses from having a home, but God raised him up and used him to deliver the Jews from
         bondage
    H. Tried to wreck David’s home.
        1. A look and a lust, at beautiful Bathsheba, and David almost lost his home.
        2. He had trouble in his home.
            a. His son, Absolom, through deceit tried to steal the kingdom from him, but God intervened.
        3. David suffered for his sins, the sword never left his house, but his home was salvaged.
    I. No wonder God has so much in His word to say about the home, and the relationship of parents and children
        1. "Honor thy father and thy mother." Eph. 6: 1-3
        2. Prov.1:8 "My son hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother."
        3. Jesus said, let him that curseth father or mother, let him (surely) die the death.
        4. Prov. 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it
    J. The home is still here, but Satan’s attack against the home has left it battered and scar
II. THERE IS A GENERATION OF PLUNDERERS-v-14
    A. Here is a class of people that is MEAN!
        1. They know they’re mean, and they intend to be mean. (Their teeth are like swords - knives. Their purpose in life is to
            devour
    B. They rob, steal, plunder, and kill you at the drop of a hat.
        1. They start wars, cause riots, and  push dope. They ruin lives.
    C. They are often in places of high authority.
        1. They are power, pleasure, and prosperity seekers.
    D. They have no respect for God.
        1. They laugh at God, but God will have the last laugh.
III.THERE IS A GENERATION THAT IS PROUD! V-13
    A. Here is described a class of people who are mean and can’t see it.
    B. Lofty eyes and lifted up eye lids are symbols of pride.
    C. They are better than anybody else, they are haughty.
    D. Pride is one of the seven deadly sins. Proverbs 21:4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked is
         sin."
Proverbs 16:5 "Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be
         unpunished."
    E. Pride is the prelude to destruction. Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
    F. Pride comes from conceit.  Prov 26:12  Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of
        him."
IV. THERE IS A GENERATION--PURE IN THEIR OWN EYES, BUT ARE STILL NOT WASHED. v.12
Titus 3:5
    A. Here is described a class of people who are mean and want admit it.
    B. In their own eyes they are pure, that is they don’t see themselves as sinners, separated from God and on the way to a
        devils hell.
    C. These are like the Pharisees of Christ day. They were clean outside, but rotten on the in
        1. These are the kind of people that believe in self-righteousness, and good works for salva
    D. They cannot see the need to repent, and believe Christ.
CONCLUSION:
    A. The four fallen generations we have talked about are prevalent with our generation.
         1.  Their influence, and life-style has  been the cause of much grief.
    B. But remember this....God has always had HIS remnant.
         1.  A class of people who reverence HIM.
         2.  A class of people who believe HIM.
3 . A class of people who worship and serve Him.
    C. I am thankful that by and through the grace of God we have deliverence from this crooked generation.
