"Marked Out For Christ"

Text: Gal 6:17; Exod 21:1-6
When I used work as a warehouseman for the Army we would earmark certain things for different places, Veitnam,
Phillipines, Germany etc. When these things were earmarked they could not be sent to any other place.  Paul had the marks
of the Lord Jesus Christ on his body (2 Cor 11:24-28).
    1. Five times he received 39 stripes from Jews verse 24.
    2. Three times he was beaten with rods v 25.
    3. Was stoned once v 25. (Acts 14:19 Lystra)
    4. Three times he suffered shipwreck v 25.
    5. Verses 26-28  But above all he had.
I. The Birth mark of the Holy Spirit (John 3:6). That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit.
    A. This is the most important mark (John 3:7).  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
    B. The new birth comes with the sealing of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14). In whom ye also trusted, after that ye
heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy
Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the
        praise of his glory.
        1. Marked or sealed for eternity.
    C. The new birth gives one the spirit of obedience (Ezk 36:27).
    D. The new birth gives a new nature (2 Cor 5:17).
II. The Water mark (Acts 9:10-18).
    A. Scriptural baptism (Ephesians 4:5).  One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
        1. Right manner = immersion.
        2. Right authority = New Testament church.
        3. Right administrator = ordained minister of New Testament church.
    B. The authority for this is found in (Matt 16:18-19; Matt 28:19-20).
    C. Baptism is a necessity to becoming a member of a New Testament church (Acts 2:41).
    D. The message of baptism.
        1. Declares one to be a child of God (Rom 6:4-5).
        2. Baptism declares the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
III. The Book Mark.
    A. The Christian will study the Word of God.  Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they
received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.  Acts 2:42
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
    B. Many Scriptures urge us to study the Word of God (Psa 119:9-11; 2 Tim 2:15).
IV. The Knee Mark.
    A. Can’t be totally given over to the Master’s will without a life of prayer.  Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the
writing was signed, he went into his house; and his  windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled
upon his knees three times a day, and  prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
    B. Results when a church prays (Acts 4:31). And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled
together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
    C. Conditions for effective praying.
        1. Humility (2 Chron 7:14).
        2. Whole heartedness (Jeremiah 29:13). And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search  for me with all your
            heart.
        3. Faith (Mark 11:24). Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray believe that ye receive
them, and ye shall have them.
Conclusion: Those marked out for Christ are the salt of the earth. Are you marked out for Christ?
