"No Difference"

Text: Rom. 3:22-23
Intro: The apostle Paul declares that there is no difference. Now he is not trying to say that there is no difference in character, ambition attitudes and personalities. Some are rich while others are poor, some are healthy others are unhealthy. Some have brown eyes others have blue eyes. There are no two people who are exactly alike physically or mentally. However, Paul says that in one point, there is no difference, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
I. There is no Difference as to the Message of Salvation, which is to be Delivered to Men.
Acts 15:6-9 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. ~ And when there had been
much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice
among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. ~ And God, which knoweth the
hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; ~ And put no difference between us and them,
purifying their hearts by faith. (Acts 4:12).
    A. The message is the same both to the intelligent and illiterate.
    B. To the wise and unwise.
    C. To the Jew and to the Greek (Rom. 1:14-16). 14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I
am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first,
and also to the Greek.
II. There is no Difference as to man’s Need of the gospel.
    A. A high code of ethics cannot cleanse us.
    B. Quitting a lot of bad habits will not cleanse sin.
    C. You cannot get rid of one sin stain without the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Heb. 9:22).
III. There is no Difference as to the Method of Salvation.
    A. Holy Spirit conviction (John 6:44).
    B. Godly sorrow (2 Cor. 7:9-10). Psalms 38:17-18 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me. ~ For
I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
    C. Repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21).  Testifying both to the Jews, and also to
the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
        1. Romans 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the
goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
IV. There is no Difference as to the Ability of Christ to Save.
    A. A harlot asks and receives living water (John 4:16-18).
    B. A rough Philippian jailer believes and is baptized (16:30-32).
    C. A self-righteous persecutor of the way of Christ believes and becomes a missionary (Acts 9).
    D. A thief believes and is in Paradise the same day (Luke 23:40-43).
    E. A raving maniac meets Jesus and sits clothed and in his right mind (Luke 8:26-39).
    F. Christ never fails
V. The Bible Doctrine of no Difference.
    A. Levels pride.
    B. Destroys self-righteousness.
    C. Blasts goods works for salvation (Isaiah 64:6). But we are all as an unclean thing, and all   our righteousnesses are as
filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
VI. The Doctrine of no Difference Offers Hope to the most Despondent.
    A. Do you think you are to great a sinner? (1 Tim. 1:15).
    B. Do you think you’re to poor? (Isaiah 55:1-2).
VII. The Doctrine of no Difference Encourages those Who Desire to Witness and do Mission Work.
    A. The heathen in Africa need the same message as the senator in Washington.
    B. The judge on the bench needs to hear the same message as the prisoner in the cell.
    C. The college student needs the same message as the skid-row-booze-hound.
VIII. The Doctrine of no Difference Teaches.
    A. All have sinned (Rom.3:23).
    B. All need a Saviour (Rom. 6:23).
    C. All have an opportunity of salvation (Rom. 5:8).  But God commendeth his love toward  us, in that, while we were yet
         sinners, Christ died for us.
    D. All can come to god the same way (Rom. 10:9-13). For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Conclusion: The doctrine of NO DIFFERENCE gathers the entire human race into one family.
    A. All are sinners.
    B. All who believe are children of God (Gal. 3:26).
    C. It glorifies Christ as the only and all sufficient Saviour.
